Information and Referral Center
The Information and Referral Center (I&R) serves as a resource to the local community for referrals and education on Parkinson's disease. As a part of the country's largest grass roots organization with the duel mission "To Ease the Burden, To Find the Cure," the national American Parkinson Disease Association has established 62 Information & Referral Centers nation wide.
Services provided by the APDA I&R center are as follows:

Respite Program
The Parkinson's disease Respite Program was developed in 1998 under the direction of the American Parkinson Disease Association Information and Referral Center at Emory University.
The Respite Program offers the caregiver time away from their loved one to care for his or her own needs. It allows a period of relief from the many responsibilities associated with providing long-term care. This Program is the only Parkinson's respite in this region. It serves 26 counties surrounding and including the Metropolitan Atlanta. There is no governmental funding for this program because of the great financial need and demand it would require.
Overall, the Respite Program has been a great success. Many Centers from other parts of the country have used our model as a basis for establishing their own programs.
For more information, contact the I & R Center at 404-728-6552. Here are downloadable admissions guideline and financial application. |
